A brief video about the previous seminar

We had a team of participants from the eventing field, veterinarians and veterinary technicians and leisure time riders.

We had a great time and of course, we worked in the arena with Bogdan, a therapy horse.

ā€œWithout any substantial understanding of the nature of the horse, there can be no meaningful implementation of welfare measures. ā€œ

We help dedicated horse owners and trainers bridge the gap between traditional and alternative veterinary care, transforming their anxiety about potential health issues into confidence and expertise.

By learning to recognize early symptoms and apply proven preventive measures, my students ensure their horses stay healthy, strong, and happy—deepening the bond and trust they share with their equine partners.

Everything is connected...

Ā

Many horse owners and trainers struggle with their horse’s performance, recurring health issues, or simply not being able to enjoy riding as often as they’d like.

At the core of these challenges is a deeper understanding of how everything in the horse’s body is connected.

That’s where I come in.

Whether you’re a leisure rider or a professional, I’ll teach you exactly what you need to know to become a confident, knowledgeable caretaker—ensuring your horse stays healthy, happy, and performing at their best.

The Hidden Health Issues Affecting Your Horse’s Performance—And How to Prevent Them

Ā

Many common health issues in horses are not only widespread but also preventable—if recognized early.

For example, more thanĀ 2/3 of horses suffer from recurring gastric issues, which significantly impact their well-being, behaviour, and performance.

The good news?

These problems can often be managed or even prevented with the right knowledge.Ā

In this in-person event in Targu Mures, I’ll reveal the deep connections between digestive health, the locomotory system, and overall biomechanics.Ā

You’ll gain insights into the autonomic nervous system, connective tissue function, and how small imbalances can lead to major performance challenges.

You’re Not Alone—These Issues Affect Almost Every Horse

Ā

If you’ve ever dealt with these challenges, you’re far from alone.

In my daily practice, I see these issues multiple times a day—they are the most common health problems horse owners face.

That’s exactly why I’m bringing them into the spotlight.

Too often, these conditions go unnoticed until they become serious, costly, and even career-ending for horses.

In many cases, they lead to premature retirement—something that could have been prevented with the right knowledge and early intervention.

My goal is to help you take action before these issues escalate, so your horse stays healthy, active, and thriving for years to come.

The Missing Piece: Understanding Pain vs. Behaviour in Your Horse

Ā

Did you know that when your horse bucks, bites, or refuses to cooperate, it’s often not a behavioral issue—but a sign of unrecognized pain?

Many horses suffer in silence, and their discomfort is mistaken for resistance or bad behavior.

In this training, I’ll teach you how to distinguish between behavioral challenges and pain-related issues so you can ride safely and support your horse’s well-being.

We’ll dive into:

āœ… The key principles of the autonomic nervous system and why every rider should understand them.
āœ… The role of connective tissue and myofascial kinetic lines in movement and performance.
āœ… How to read facial expressions to detect early signs of pain.
āœ… Groundbreaking research on how horses express discomfort under saddle.
āœ… The massive impact of small details—like the tightness of a noseband—on biomechanics, balance, and even stomach health.
āœ… The basics of neurology, locomotion, and muscle function—giving you essential knowledge to prevent injury and enhance performance.

By the end of this in-person event, you’ll have a new level of awareness and practical skills to ensure your horse is not just performing—but thriving.

Ā

Meet Your Instructor: A Veterinarian Bridging Science & Classical Horsemanship

Ā

Hello, I'm Philipp Scholz,Ā a veterinarian specializing in manual medicine for horses, combining my expertise with a deep passion for classical dressage and biomechanics.

Since my teenage years, I’ve studied historic equestrian literature and trained with masters in classical riding—not as a style, but as a fundamental approach rooted in the horse’s natural physiology and movement.

In my daily practice, I integrate veterinary science, manual therapy, and classical dressage principles to help horses move more freely, prevent injuries, and perform at their best—regardless of discipline.

Think of it like yoga for humans: just as flexibility and mobility improve other sports, correct training and body awareness enhance every aspect of a horse’s performance.

Originally from Germany, I now live in Portugal with my partner, Iulia Oprea, and spend part of the year in Romania, where I’ve been deeply inspired by the region’s rich equestrian traditions.

Romania has one of the largest horse populations in Europe, and unlike many other countries, horses here are still actively used in agriculture, forestry, and traditional working practices—a heritage that is becoming rare worldwide.

I work internationally, hosting clinics in Germany, Portugal, and now Romania, helping riders, trainers, and equine professionals deepen their understanding of horse health, movement, and longevity.
